Actress Urmila Matondkar, who recently joined the Shiv Sena, has said that the Shiv Sena is a Hindutva party and will remain Hindutva in the future as well. In a special conversation with a leading daily, Urmila said that she is not a Twitter or WhatsApp leader in fact she a leader who works for the people. Urmila continued to share her sour-sweet experience with the Congress and said she does not regret her brief association with the Congress and has high regard for that party’s leadership.
Matondkar told PTI that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had done a spectacular job in a year and took good care of the people during the Kovid-19 epidemic and natural disaster.
Matondkar said that she is a “public actress” and will work hard to become a “leader of the people”. He said, “I don’t want to be a leader who sits in the AC room and tweets … I know what to do and how to work.” I will learn from experiences. ‘
On her association with the Congress for some time, she said, “I have been in the party for less than six months and I have good memories of campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections for 28 days.”
Matondkar said that she is not such a person who has any regrets. She said, “Even after leaving Congress, I did not say anything about the party. I don’t see any reason why now I want to do this. “
Referring to her decision to resign from the Congress, she said, “For me, the voice of conscience matters more.”
On Wednesday at the Shiv Sena Bhawan in Dadar, Urmila said that even though she has left the Congress, she has the same respect for senior leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, BalasahebThorat.
On joining the Shiv Sena, she said, “I got a call from the Chief Minister’s Office. I was told that I can help in culture matters in the Legislative Council. I felt that the MVA government in the state did a good job. The government has done public welfare work during the time of Covid-19 and natural disasters. “
The actor-turned-politicians further added “The whole year was extremely difficult. Natural disasters like corona, floods, cyclonic storms came, yet the government stood like a wall. It helped all the people and helped them to overcome adversity. This task was not easy.”
Urmila told that next year, she will complete 30 years in the film world. She said that she has done a lot of work and is still doing it in that area. Urmila claimed that she has come into politics to serve the people. If given a chance, she will do a good job in the Legislative Council and her agenda to work is ready.
The Congress calls itself a secular party, while the Shiv Sena is a Hindutva party. The ideologies of the two are different, how will She connect with Shiv Sena’s ideology? On this, Urmila said “Being secular does not mean that you do not believe in religion, whereas being Hindu does not mean that you hate another religion. Shiv Sena is a Hindutva Party. Hinduism is an inclusive religion. Hindutva engages everyone. The scope of Hindutva is very large.”
The state government has recommended the name of Matondkar from Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for a seat in the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Koshiyari is yet to decide on the names of the 12 people sent by the government to be nominated from the Governor quota to the Upper House.
Matondkar said that even if her nomination for the Legislative Council is not accepted under Governor’s quota, she will continue to work for the people through the Shiv Sena platform.
