Shiv Sena president and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a scorching attack on the BJP as he used the statements of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat to attack the BJP at his party’s traditional Dussehra rally on Sunday. At the same time, he also dared BJP to topple his government.
Thackeray who heads a Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance in Maharastra said, “It has been a year now. Since the day I became the CM, I have been hearing different dates on the toppling of my government. So far it hasn’t happened… if you have the courage… then go ahead and do it.”
In a veiled attack on Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Thackeray questioned the credentials of those who sought to enquire about his ‘Hindutva’, referring to the recent letter controversy in which Koshyari had questioned whether the Sena leader has turned “secular”.
Thackery said, “We are being asked questions on Hindutva because we have not opened temples yet.” Taking a dig at one of the most controversial issues, on which critics have accused the BJP of double standards, Thackeray said “You are talking about our Hindutva. So in Maharashtra, you are banning beef, but in Goa, you are with beef. Is this your Hindutva?”
Referring to the views of Mohan Bhagwat, the head of the ideological mentor of the BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the chief minister said, “Mohan Bhagwat today said that Hindutva is not only related to worship. Therefore, people wearing black caps and those who question our beliefs and call us secular should listen to Bhagwat’s speech today.”
The CM said, “People who follow him (Koshiyari) wear black hats and if you have brains under this hat, then at least follow Mohan Bhagwat and his statements today “
Uddhav used another sentence of Mohan Bhagwat to attack the BJP while addressing a very limited number of Shiv Sainiks in the auditorium of Savarkar Institute, located right in front of Shivaji Park. Bhagwat had said that politics does not mean war. Uddhav said that this should be understood by BJP, which is seeking to eliminate the opposition. He also targeted the BJP and JDU alliance in Bihar elections, saying that in Bihar, BJP has declared Nitish Kumar as its Chief Ministerial candidate. He took a dig at Nitish Kumar saying “ Nitish Kumar I wishes you all the best.”
Then he questioned, “Nitish Kumar, who talked about a Sangh-free India, has started liking you. Has Nitish Kumar become a Hindutvaist or has the BJP become secular?”
Uddhav, without naming the BJP in his gestures, accused them of trying to bring down his government and warned, “if you have courage, topple our government. We are the children of the tiger. You will regret it if you lose.”
Uddhav Thackeray broke the silence on dragging his son Aditya Thackeray’s name in the Sushant case and said that there was a conspiracy to defame Mumbai and Maharashtra. He said, ‘Somebody committed suicide, he could be the son of Bihar. But because of that, you defamed the sons of Maharashtra.” In another veiled attack, this time on actress KanganaRanaut, Thackeray said some people come to Mumbai for bread and butter and abuse the city by calling it Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
