Tiktok on Monday sued the Trump government accusing them of depriving it when he used his emergency economic powers to issue an executive order that will block the app in the country.
They have said that it is a political move by Trump as election is around the corner.
The suit was filed in the Federal District Court for the Central District of California. It has escalated into a bitter war of words between TikTok and American officials.
The officials of the App said they are not inclined to suing the government, however, they are left with no choice but to take action to protect their rights.
They have more than 1,500 employees across the U.S. who pour their hearts into building this platform every day, said the company. On top of it they had even planned to hire more than 10,000 more workers across eight states in the coming years.
Relations between U.S. and China has strained in recent months over rift in geopolitics, trade & technology. While China is trying to assert itself, Trump is also showing to his voters that he is being tough on China.
Mr. Trump’s first executive order against TikTok comes from the legal authority of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which qualifies president Trump to regulate economic transactions in a national emergency. Even past administrations in the United States have used it to punish foreign governments, drug kingpins and hackers. However, this is for the first time it has been used against a global technology company.
