The drug angle probe in the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case has caught many Bollywood stars unaware and many prominent names were dragged into it.
Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash was also linked in the case and was summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Prakash’s name cropped up as the NCB was probing the alleged racket in the film industry. However, the celebrity manager is nowhere to be found. She is untraceable for the past few days.
The death of the 35-year-old Rajput in June is being investigated simultaneously by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection to the money laundering angle.
Prakash was supposed to appear before NCB on Wednesday. However, she is yet to respond to the central agency’s summons. “Prakash did not come for inquiry and NCB will wait for her to respond to the summons,” Sameer Wankhede, NCB’s Mumbai zonal director, said.
The federal agency, while searching the residence of Prakash in Mumbai’s Versova while she was away, recovered 1.7 grams of hashish and three bottles of Cannabidiol (CBD) oil.
An employee of KWAN talent management agency, Prakash was interrogated in September by the NCB. The agency found some incriminating chats on her WhatsApp, which included conversations with one ‘D’ and they wanted to quiz her on this.
The NCB has summoned several famous personalities in connection to the case. NCB had also summoned the employees of KWAN Talent Agency. The alleged drug links of Bollywood celebs, including A-listers, came to light during the probe. Many celebs, including Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Shraddha Kapoor have already been questioned by NCB.
So far, in connection to the drug angel, the NCB has arrested 18 people, including Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda, and his domestic help Dipesh Sawant. Rhea Chakraborty is now out on bail.
