Congress President Sonia Gandhi has decided to start a series of meetings with the top leaders of the party to resolve the challenges of the election of the new president with the end of the infighting in the party. The series of these meetings will begin on 19 December. Some of the 23 disgruntled party leaders who wrote letters to her August have also been called for talks. Meanwhile, there is a lot of speculation about Ashok Gehlot’s Delhi visit.
Sonia, who has been avoiding direct dialogue with party leaders since last March after Corona’s inception, has decided to meet directly to resolve a leadership tussle in the Congress. According to sources, in the December 19 meeting, the leaders can clearly talk about the roadmap ahead, there is a discussion that in the second week of January the party can elect the new president. The process for this has also started.
According to sources, the meeting, which starts on December 19, will last for the next few days, in which senior leaders and three to four leaders of the G-23 faction have been invited. Sources claim, some more party leaders have come out in support of 23 leaders and are demanding Sonia Gandhi to intervene immediately. A senior party leader said that the leadership crisis at the top level within the party has now started reaching the states and again old disputes are beginning to emerge. In Rajasthan, there are reports of a political crisis emerging again. Apart from this, some prominent farmer leaders are also being called to discuss the issue of farmers with the general secretaries in charge of the states where assembly elections are to be held.
There is a discussion in the party corridors that the disgruntled faction is also preparing to field its candidate for the post of Congress President. Sonia Gandhi’s separate interactions with leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kapil Sibal and Anand Sharma, who are leading the G-23, will be an attempt to break the internal turmoil. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda is also with this group.
Sources said that former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath has an important role in preparing the meeting of these leaders with Sonia Gandhi and he will also attend this proposed meeting on December 19. Kamal Nath had met Sonia a few days earlier. One of the leaders who wrote the letter confirmed in the conversation that he had been called to meet Sonia. Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, the speculations related to Ashok Gehlot – Sachin Pilot’s Chief Minister’s post has once again intensified. Congress these days is looking for a leader like Ahmed Patel, who can raise funds for the party. Apart from this, he should also be a confidant of the Gandhi family. Congress president Sonia Gandhi has currently given Pawan Bansal the additional responsibility of treasurer, but the party is looking for a full-time leader to raise funds. Everyone is eyeing the name of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot for the treasurer. Apart from this, there are many reasons why the Congress high command wants Ashok Gehlot to leave Rajasthan and come to Delhi. On behalf of the Congress central leadership, it is being said that Gehlot should shift from Rajasthan to Delhi and hand over the command of the government to Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan.
