Sachin vs Gehlot: What’s brewing today in Rajasthan congress

Despite repeated calls by Congress high command to not stray and attend Tuesday’s CLP (Congress Legislature Party), Rajasthan’s Deputy CM and rebel leader Sachin Pilot skipped the meet. The meeting that started just before noon at Fairmont Jaipur, a private resort, is the second congregation in two days to pacify the dissent within the party.

As per latest reports and live tweets by Gehlot camp the meeting has been attended by 102 MLAs, a claim refuted by Sachin Pilot.

Party general secretary in-charge of Rajasthan Avinash Pande had appealed to Pilot minutes before the meeting to attend it. “I appeal to @SachinPilot and all his fellow MLAs to join today’s Legislature Party meeting. While expressing your faith in the ideology and values of the Congress, please make your presence felt and strengthen the hands of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.”

All eyes are on the development within Rajasthan Congress after a similar incident in Madhya Pradesh gave way to BJP. However, congress is putting up a brave face this time saying that Ashok Gehlot has majority on his side and it is not going the Madhya Pradesh way.

Simultaneously, Sachin Pilot has also tweeted a video of the the MLAs by his side from an undisclosed place in Gurgaon, Haryana. Currently, both feuding factions are projecting strength of crushing the other.

The 200-member Rajasthan assembly needs a 101 to show a majority.

Latest inputs say that Sachin Pilot has been ousted from congress and removed as state unit chief.
