The Army’s Research and Referral hospital in the capital released a statement on former President Pranab Mukherjee Health stating that his health condition remains critical.
This triggered a spate of rumors on social media compelling his son— Congress leader Abhijit Mukherjee, to come forward and dismiss reports that his father, who is currently on ventilator support, passed away. My father is still alive and hemodynamically stable and on a ventilator,” said Abhijit.
In a Twitter post, Abhijit said: “My father Shri Pranab Mukherjee is still alive and hemodynamically stable! Speculations & fake news being circulated by reputed Journalists on social media clearly reflects that Media in India has become a factory of Fake News.”
Bharat Ratna recipient, 84-year-old Pranab Mukherjee was hospitalized on the advice of doctors and had tested positive for Covid-19 before his surgery. The doctors attending him said that his condition deteriorated on Tuesday and hadn’t shown signs of improvement.
During his working days, Pranab Mukherjee was highly considered as a Prime Ministerial candidate which he didn’t become. But he won the presidential elections in 2012 with the support of Congress and parties opposed to the BJP. Before becoming the President the Congress veteran had served as a parliamentarian seven times.
As per the latest statements from the Army’s Research and Referral hospital today the condition of former President Pranab Mukherjee “remains unchanged and he is deeply comatose.”
