Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh whiplashed the BJP state leaders on Sunday as he accused the BJP of making a poor attempt to destabilize the democratically elected government while demolishing the Governor’s reputation. Amarinder Singh alleged that BJP is crushing democratic institutions. He also invited BJP leaders to learn the ABC of the Indian Constitution.
Punjab Chief Minister accused the state BJP leadership of “making a poor effort to bring down the reputation of the Governor”. On being accused by the BJP state unit of trying to make “Punjab another West Bengal”, Singh retorted that the BJP is “power-hungry” and is trying to use the Governor for their vested interests. The Chief Minister said, “This is happening in West Bengal. This happened in Maharashtra and now they are doing the same in Punjab. “
He condemned BJP’s efforts and said that in states where BJP is not in power, it is engaged in creating war-like conditions for power. The BJP is systematically crushing all democratic and constitutional institutions. Captain said whether BJP leaders do not know that the responsibility of law and order in my state rests only with the Chief Minister. He advised BJP leaders to refrain from opening their mouths on constitutional matters.
“Don’t these BJP leaders know that the law and order responsibility of my State lies with me, not only as chief minister but also as the home minister,” he asked.
Talking about the agitating farmers the Punjab Cm said, “BJP is making repeated attempts to politicize the farmers’ movement. Instead of resorting to lies and political manoeuvres, the BJP should work on further strengthening its political ideology and political landscape. The time has come when the ruling party at the Center should stop messing with the lives of farmers and repeal the Black Agriculture Act.”
He alleged that the BJP wants to divert public attention from the issue of farmers agitating against agricultural laws by propagating the law-and-order issue. Last month, hundreds of Reliance Jio towers in Punjab were allegedly damaged by angry farmers. Amarinder said that by highlighting some sporadic incidents, BJP is trying to reduce the peaceful movement of farmers.
Captain Amrinder Singh further said that even in the BJP ruled states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, BJP leaders had to face the anger of the farmers. Captain said that allegations are being made that farmers are breaking law and order in Punjab at the behest of the ruling Congress, and asked should the ruling BJP in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh be held responsible for the incidents that took place there.
“If the incidents of farmers venting their anger at BJP leaders in Punjab are at the behest of the ruling Congress here, as they are alleging, then by the same logic, the ruling BJP in Haryana and U.P. is to blame for the trouble there,” he asked. The Punjab CM urged the BJP-led central government to climb down from its exalted ego and bring the farming crisis to an end before it gets completely out of hand and brings India to ruination. He said it was sad to see that at a time when farmers were dying every day in the bitter winter cold while sitting in protest at Delhi borders for the past nearly 40 days, the BJP was busy indulging in cheap politics Capt. Amarinder said, “The entire nation can feel the pain of the farmers except for the party which heads the country.”
