Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day Gujarat tour from today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Gandhinagar on Friday morning to pay tribute to former Chief Minister of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel. PM Modi first arrived at his house and bowed. On Thursday, Keshubhai Patel died after having trouble breathing.
During his Gujarat visit, PM Modi will flag off many projects, PM Modi will also flag off seaplane flights to be operated between the Sabarmati Riverfront and the Statue of Unity.
Keshubhai Patel, who was the Chief Minister of Gujarat twice, died on Thursday, he was having some difficulty in breathing. Keshubhai Patel was 92 years old.
Earlier on Thursday, PM Modi issued a message on the death of Keshubhai Patel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that our beloved and respected Keshubhai has passed away. I am very upset and sad. He was an outstanding leader who took care of every section of society. His life was devoted to the progress of Gujarat and the empowerment of every Gujarati.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said that Keshubhai made several trips to Gujarat to strengthen the Jan Sangh and the BJP. He opposed the Emergency. The issues of farmer welfare were closest to his heart. Being an MLA, MP, Minister or CM, he ensured that farmer-friendly measures are passed.
Other leaders including Amit Shah expressed grief over the death of Keshubhai Patel. By-elections are going on in Gujarat but BJP has cancelled its campaign.
Significantly, Keshubhai Patel had held the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat twice, he became the Chief Minister of the state in 1995 and 1998. But in 2001, he had to resign from the post. Keshubhai Patel formed a new party in 2012, which later merged with BJP.
According to the officials, after paying tribute to former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel. PM Modi will leave for Kevadia in Narmada district. This will be Modi’s first visit to his home state since the onset of Coronavirus infection in late March in Gujarat. It is believed that PM Modi will rest the night in Kevadia.
According to officials, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Kevadia in a helicopter from Ahmedabad Airport. Here he will inaugurate the Sardar Patel Zoological Park, dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Later he will inaugurate a boat service, which will operate between the statue and the best Bharat Bhavan in the Narmada River.
If the officer is to be believed, PM Modi can also ride the boat at the inauguration. He will then inaugurate the Ekta Mall near the statue, where tourists can buy handicraft items brought from across the country.
After this, on the morning of 31 October, PM Modi will first visit the Statue of Unity to pay floral tributes to Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary. A parade called the Unity Day Parade will also be organized by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Gujarat Police on the occasion. It is expected that PM Modi will also address here. The official said that after speaking at the parade ground near the Statue of Unity, PM Modi will interact with civil service probationers through video conferencing. In the afternoon, PM will start a seaplane service connecting Kevadia and Ahmedabad. He will then leave for New Delhi.
