The Mahavikas Aghadi government of three parties in Maharashtra stirred fresh controversy with its latest decision. The Maharashtra government has cut the security of Devendra Fadanavis, the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and his family, former Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, MNS chief Raj Thackrey. The security of Chandrakant Patil, chief of BJP’s Maharashtra unit, has also been removed. The Uddhav Thackery led government also downgraded the security cover provided to former BJP city unit president Ashish Shelar and Union minister Ramdas Athavale of the RPI-A. Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhyay has described it as politics of revenge.

Those in BJP whose cover has been withdrawn altogether along with state unit chief Chandrakant Patil, were ex-CM Narayan Rane, and legislators Ram Kadam and Prasad Lad.

The bulletproof vehicle of Fadnavis and Raj Thackeray’s convoy has also been removed. After this, BJP and MNS leaders have expressed their displeasure. BJP leader Ramkadam has said that the state government is doing cheap politics. Meanwhile, MNS has announced that the party is capable of providing security to its leader, they will take care of the security of Raj Thackeray themselves.

As per the official notification issued on January 8, Fadnavis will now get ‘Y-Plus category with escort’ protection instead of ‘Z-plus’ category. At the same time, the security of former Chief Minister’s wife Amrita Fadnavis and daughter Divija has been reduced from ‘Y-Plus’ category to ‘X’ with an escort. Meanwhile, Former Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik will now get ‘Y’ category protection instead of ‘Y-Plus’. The security of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray has been reduced from ‘Z’ category to ‘Y Plus’ with ‘Escort’.

The security of BJP leader and former Chief Minister Narayan Rane, state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil and senior party leader Sudhir Mungantiwar has been withdrawn. Rane had ‘Y-Plus’ category protection. Apart from this, the security of the state Lokayukta ML Tahiliani has been reduced from ‘Z’ category to the ‘Y’ category.

According to the notification, the government has increased the security of two people. Security of 11 has been reduced, while the security of 16 people has been withdrawn. Apart from this, security has been given to 13 new people. The newcomers to get security include SunetraPawar, wife of state Deputy Chief Minister AjitPawar, and Varun Sardesai, secretary of the Youth Army. Sardesai is a relative of Rashmi Thackeray, wife of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Both are given ‘X’ category protection.

After this move of the government, Devendra Fadnavis said, “When I was a legislator and later state BJP president, I had no security. When I took over as CM, initially I had refused security, but out of compulsion, I accepted the highest security cover. I have no complaints. I will continue to move around, meet people and visit all corners of the state. After examining the threat perception, the state government will make a decision, or even the Centre can provide me with security if there is a threat to my life.”

Taking a dig at the Thackeray government, BJP leader Ram Kadam said, “Maharashtra government is daring to remove the security of BJP leaders with a sense of revenge. If anything, wrong happens, it will be on the MahavikasAghadi government. Whose voice will you suppress?” The end of this politics of malice of yours has come close. Satya Meo Jayate. ” The state’s State Intelligence Department had a few days ago reviewed VIP security and made its report after which several changes were made in VVIP security.
