The gun battle between security forces and terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir is intensifying. Four suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists have been declared killed in an encounter that started at 4:20 am in the morning today.
All four terrorists were travelling in a truck when the police forces intercepted them near the Ban toll plaza near Nagrota on the highway, according to officials.
As per information from officials familiar with the development, the truck-bound terrorists were on their way to Kashmir. “It was put to check by the policemen at the toll plaza because we had intelligence inputs with us,” an officer told the media.
“Four terrorists have been neutralized and one Police Constable injured in an encounter at Ban Toll Plaza, Jammu with Police, CRPF, and Army. The area is being sanitized,” the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu tweeted.
One officer of the Special Operations Group, Kuldeep Raj, 32, of Akhnoor in Jammu district was also injured in the encounter. He was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu with injuries on the neck. His condition is said to be stable.
The area has been cordoned off and security has been tightened. Security forces recovered 11 AK series rifles from the site.
Official statement released mentioned that the Jammu-Srinagar national highway has been closed for vehicular traffic in view of the encounter.
According to senior officials, the JeM terrorists adopted the usual modus-operandi of infiltrating from across the international border in Jammu region. After that they boarded a truck to enter into the valley.
However, they got eliminated by the forces in a swift operation. “The terrorists are likely to have entered through fresh infiltration from the Samba sector,” said senior official.
