Intel alert over SFJ’s call for ‘Punjab Bandh’

Punjab Bandh

Intelligence agencies have issued an alert to Punjab Police after information was received that secessionist group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has given a call for a ‘Punjab Bandh’ on 31 August. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, who runs SFJ activities from New York, has called for a Punjab bandh on 31 August. The organization was banned by the central government in July last year.

It is to be noted that Gurpatwant Singh Pannu has given a call for Punjab bandh on August 31 in the name of Dilawar Singh, the killer of former Chief Minister Shaheed Beant Singh.Pannuhas made an appeal to the masses to reach in large numbers for the Ardas being held in the memory Dilawar Singh in Sri Akal Takht Sahib to mark the 25th death anniversary of Dilawar Singh.

Pannu, in the call, mentioned that Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht, GianiGurbachan Singh in 2012 had declared Beant Singh’s assassin Dilawar Singh as a “Qaumi Shaheed”.

“SFJ is humbled to offer this seva to Sikhs in Punjab who wish to attend Ardas at Akal Takht on August 31,” said the call.

Citing an Amnesty International report on the situation in Punjab during 1992-95, Pannusaid that “Bhai Shaheed Dilawar Singh indeed put a halt to the genocide of Sikhs under Beant’s rule. We urge people of Punjab to shut down all businesses except essential services such as clinics and pharmacies on August 31 in respect of Quami Shaheed Dilawar Singh,” added Pannun.

Ever since the Indian government has declared Pannu a terrorist, he has been threating to convert Punjab and Delhi into Khalistan while he is sitting in New York. Reports also claim that Punnu receives funds in dollars from the Khalistani supporters sitting abroad while he is also in contact with the ISI.The pro-Khalistan groupwas declared an “unlawful association” by the Ministry of Home Affairs in July last year.

Sources also claim that the ISI hatching conspiracies to shake up Punjab by helping leaders of the terrosit organisation in Pakistan to coordinate with Khalistan supporters sitting abroad. Indian security and intelligence agencies have also started a thorough investigation in the encounter of 5 Pakistani who were killed infiltrating Tarn Taran that whether they were part of the ISI conspiracy to shake up Punjab.

The Ardas ceremony is held in Sri Akal Takht Sahib on 31 August every year after the offering of Sri Akhand Sahib recitation in memory of Dilawar Singh where family members of Dilawar Singh are honored. Pannu has instructed Sangat to reach in large numbers in this program.

It is to be noted that Congress leader Beant Singh, who was the Chief Minister of Punjab from 1992 to 1995, and 16 others were killed in a car bombing outside the Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh on August 31, 1995. Dilawar Singh, a Punjab Police officer, had acted as a suicide bomber to assassinate Beant Singh.

Punnu has been trying to promote separatism in Punjab by claiming to hold Referendum 2020. However, the Sikh community has sofar not paid any attention to Punnu’s claim.

It is also to be mentioned that recently the Chief Minster of Punjab had also dared Punnu to come Punjab after miscreants had hosted `Khalistan’ flag in the Moga administrative complex. He had said, “You try to come to Punjab and I will teach you a lesson.”The CM had also requested the youth of the state not to get influenced by the spiteful propaganda of anti-India elements like terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and his Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
