Government will bring detailed plan for 100 districts facing water crisis: Finance Minister
The government is going to bring a detailed plan for 100 districts of the country facing water crisis. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced this while presenting the budget on Saturday. Sitharaman, presenting her second budget in the Lok Sabha, said that the States implementing the Agricultural Land Lease Model Act-2016, Agricultural Produce and Livestock Market Model Act-2017, Agricultural Produce and Livestock Contract Farming, Services Promotion and Facilitation Model Act-2018 will be encouraged.
The Finance Minister said that farmers who have barren lands will be helped to set up solar power units and sell surplus electricity to the solar grid. She said that there is a need for making the agricultural market liberal and competitive, providing support to agro-based activities and sustainable crop pattern and technology.
She announced a 16 point action plan and measures to encourage states for the betterment of farmers in the budget. She said that the budget of FY 2020-21 is mainly focused on three things’ Aspiring India, Economic Development and Welfare Society.
She said that India has lifted 271 million people out of poverty. During the Finance Minister’s speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nirmala Sitharaman’s associate minister and ruling party MPs were repeatedly seen thumping the tables and praising the budget announcements.
