The political upheaval that continues in Rajasthan as the case of BSP MLAs will be heard in the Supreme Court today. At the same time, BJP MLA Madan Dilawar has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Rajasthan High Court order. On the other hand, Congress MLAs have demanded that action be taken against Sachin Pilot and rebel MLAs.
Sources have said that the MLAs of Rajasthan Congress demanded action against Sachin Pilot and other rebel MLAs in the Legislature Party meeting on Sunday. Avinash Pande, Congress’ in-charge of Rajasthan, while communicating with the MLAs at the hotel, told them that the party will not be soft towards the rebel MLAs.
Shanti Dhariwal, Congress’ Parliamentary affairs minister in Rajasthan, lashed out at rebel MLAs belonging to the Sachin Pilot group.
Earlier, it was reported that Ashok Gehlot, was easing his stand on the rebel MLA’s led by Pilot but on the latest development coming days before the convening of Rajasthan assembly session, conveys hardening of stance by the Ashok Gehlot-led faction towards the rebel MLAs.
While talking to the media on Sunday Gehlot said, “Victory will be ours, the final victory will be ours, victory will be of the government, the government will complete full five years, will immerse itself towards service. People expect, hope which I will complete.”
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Dilawar has filed a petition in the Supreme Court. In this, he has argued that the High Court has not given any order nor prohibited the BSP MLAs from joining the Congress. The BSP has also appealed to the High Court to send the matter to the Supreme Court, but its application has not been listed yet.
BJP has also started following the path of Congress, it has decided that on August 11, it will organize its MLAs in a hotel in Jaipur. The Legislature Party will meet at four in the evening on the same day. At the same time, after the decision of the BSP High Court will decide how long the legislators have to keep in the hotel. If the decision comes against the Congress, the BJP MLAs will demand a majority test by bringing a no-confidence motion.
Amid all this political struggle in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday appealed to the MLAs to listen to the voice of people to save democracy and stand with the truth in the interest of people of the state.
Ashok Gehlot made an emotional appeal by writing a passionate letter to the MLAs of all parties on Sunday morning that they should not be part of the conspiracy to topple the government and urged them to make their decision based on what their conscience says.
“It is my appeal that you should listen to the voice of people in order to avoid the wrong tradition, to maintain people’s trust in us, and to save democracy,” Gehlot said in the letter.
It is to be noted that BJP has shifted almost half a dozen of its MLAs to Porbandar in Gujarat. On the other hand, Congress MLAs are currently camping at a Jaisalmer hotel. The legislators headed thereafter an 18-day stay at a resort on the outskirts of Jaipur.
