‘Congress has double standards on Gupkar Alliance’: Manohar Lal Khattar

Manohar Lal Khattar

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar hit out at the Gupkar alliance in Jammu and Kashmir and accused Congress of siding with those leaders who spoke the anti-national language. CM Khattar slammed the Congress for being part of the Gupkar manifesto in Jammu and Kashmir. Manohar Lal said that after the formation of the People’s Alliance for Guptakar Declaration in Jammu and Kashmir, it is condemnable for the Congress to support it.

The Haryana Chief Minister said that the PAGD’s agenda is to restore the provisions of Article 370 in the Valley. Meanwhile, the Congress said last Tuesday that it is not part of the Gupkar alliance and it is contesting the District Development Council elections in Jammu and Kashmir to ‘expose’ BJP through democratic means.

Khattar also expressed his anger against some coalition leaders who reportedly said that Article 370 would be reinstated with the help of China. He said that his agenda is to restore Article 370 but it will not be allowed under any circumstances.

The Haryana CM said “after 70 years of independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done the work of removing Article 370 and this is a historic step. This article was detrimental to the unity and integrity of the country. The leaders of the Gupakar coalition are now talking about restoring this article, is it not an anti-national act?”

He said that since this step has been taken, the situation in the Kashmir Valley is normalizing.

Further, Manohar Lal Khattar alleged that recently two Congress leaders held a meeting at the residence of Mehbooba Mufti, and spoke of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Congress supporting this alliance, while the leaders of Delhi are saying that the Congress has no connection with alliances.” The CM added that this highlights the double standards of the Congress.

DDC polls will be conducted in J&K between Nov 28 and Dec 19, results on Dec 22. PAGD is a conglomerate of J&K-based political parties, including the National Conference and PDP. It was formed to seek the restoration of autonomy for the region under Article 370.

The BJP has been very vocal about Congress supporting the Gupkar alliance as Bihar’s Senior BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai has said that the kind of conspiracy being done by the Gupkar Alliance is dangerous. He added that Congress’s move is dangerous and they love power more than the country.

Nityanand Rai said that it is not right for Farrukh Abdullah or Chidambaram or other Congress leaders, the kind of manipulation they are doing to bring Article 370 back.

The Union Minister said that no matter how hard the separatist forces try, their plans will not be allowed to be fulfilled under any circumstances. He further urged the Congress to clearly mention its stand on the issue. The Minister of State for Home said that Congress and Rahul Gandhi should clarify their opinion about the thinking of separatists. Nityanand Rai said that Rahul Gandhi has to increase his understanding. He said, “only Rahul, China and Pakistan understand what Rahul says. Rahul Gandhi needs to change his way of thinking. The secret intentions of the Congress related to Gupkar alliance will be destroyed and the Congress will be wasted in the secret intentions of the alliance.”
