BJP not keen on staking claim after Narayanasamy government in Puducherry collapses

After the upheaval in Puducherry, as the Congress government under V Narayanasamy lost the vote of confidence in the assembly, BJP said that it is not going to form a government at this stage.

The assembly elections are months away from now. The president of the BJP state unit, V Saminathan has said that the party will not try to form a government because with the blessings of the people and under the leadership of PM Modi, NDA will anyways form the government in a few months.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday clearly mentioned that it will not stake a claim to form the government in Puducherry in the aftermath of the collapse of the V Narayanasamy-led Congress government.

The BJP stated the collapse of the government in Puducherry is “the worst chapter” in the Union Territory’s history.

“We will not try and form a government at this stage. With the people’s blessings in the forthcoming elections and [Prime Minister Narendra] Modiji’s leadership, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form a government with BJP and its alliance partners All India NR Congress and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in May and build a new bright future for the people of Puducherry,” said the BJP state unit president V Saminathan.

Narayanasamy points fingers at BJP for the collapse

On the other hand, Narayanasamy blames former lieutenant governor (L-G) Kiran Bedi for the downfall. He said that she had colluded with the Opposition to topple his government. However, the BJP also accused him of poor governance.

BJP state president Saminathan accused Narayanasamy and his government for looting the state’s finances in the last five years. He said that Narayanasamy “looted and destroyed” the money meant for the people, which was sent from Central funds for jobs, ration, healthcare, roads, and education.

“You saw during Rahul Gandhi’s visit how poor women had to complain about suffering during cyclones,” he said.

“A culture of corruption and exploitation is the only thing that Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam have given to the people instead of development and helping them. The people of Puducherry will teach them a lesson in the coming elections,” he said shortly after the floor test.

In the meanwhile, PM Modi is also set to visit Puducherry to campaign for his party.
