Joe Biden while accepting the nomination as the Democratic presidential nomination had a message of American perseverance in the face of hardship. His speech was uplifting and incisive, as he pledged to provide a steady hand of leadership. “United we can, and will, overcome this season of darkness in America,” Biden said.
He also took a jab at Trump and said “The current president has cloaked America in darkness for much too long. Too much anger, too much fear, too much division.”
Biden, 77, urged Americans to punish Trump for the conundrum resulting in more than 170,000 deaths and economic despair.
For Biden, this is his third White House bid after failing to bag the nomination in 1988 and 2008.
Although Biden had been the subject of mockery for the past several months from Trump and other Republicans, Democrats are hopeful of a strong performance from him. Meanwhile, as the vice presidential nomination of Kamala Harris, the first black woman to make it onto the White House ticket of a major party is also expected to dodge those attacks.
Biden has so far led in almost every national opinion poll and also in the crucial swing states. On the other hand Trump is also putting up a hard fight. However, Biden directly denounces President Donald Trump on his failure to handle the pandemic and the economy and said he is someone who “takes no responsibility, refuses to lead, blames others, cozies up to dictators, and fans the flames of hate and division”.
