Samajwadi Party President and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav has said that the health services in the state are themselves badly ill. The situation is so serious that a dozen ministers and legislators of the ruling party are in the grip of Covid-19 while a cabinet minister has tragically died.
Yadav raised concerns over the current situation while targeting the BJP government as he questioned medical facilities developed in the past three and a half years in the state. Yadav urged the Chief Minister and his team officials to tell that in which medical colleges under the BJP government are giving treatment of Covid-19?
In a statement issued on Thursday evening, Akhilesh Yadav said, “…A cabinet minister has died tragically, what medical facilities has the BJP government developed in three-and-a-half years? The officers of the chief minister or his team should tell that which medical colleges are being used for the treatment of COVID-19 patients? All the medical colleges in the state were made during the Samajwadi government. The BJP government did not set up a single medical college.”
Akhilesh Yadav said that the inability of the current government to control the corona infection has infested fear among the people of the state and many are falling prey to depression psychologically. Yadav also pointed out that hundreds of people committed suicide as they were forced to live under various restrictions for five consecutive months. Schools and colleges are also closed for the past five months. He also added that as time is passing by adherence to all the guidelines of the BJP government is also gradually decreasing.
The former CM of up then raised concerns about patients in hospitals who have found it difficult to get treatment in OPD as he said that even serious patients have to wait for hours to get proper medical attention. Commenting on the system of corona detection he said it has totally collapsed. He added that due to hunger and thirst as well as lack of treatment and hygiene, Covid-19 is making patients more ill.
The SP president, further attacking the government on the issue, said that Corona Warriors are also falling prey to the government’s negligence. He said if these Corona warriors will not be given proper food, proper treatment and care will not be done, then their morale will certainly fall. He said “In Gorakhpur, there are complaints of health workers not getting food and corruption in purchasing sanitizer in Bareilly. Patients are suffering from hunger at the Quarantine Centre in Badaun.”
“In Kanpur, the number of infected people has increased but the administration remains inactive. The scene of using cot as an alternative for an ambulance in Fatehpur was very painful. While a dead body carrier was not made available even 17 hours after the death of Koran, an Ayush doctor from Telibag area of Lucknow.” He added.
Amid all these attacks from the opposition Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting with officers in Bareilly on Friday.
